These Beautiful handcrafted traditional Ipu instruments made from gourds is the perfect companion to any hula event. Large gourd drums called ipu hula are unique to Hawai'i. Ipu hula are fashioned from two ipu (gourds), a smaller one forming the top and a larger one the lower portion of the instrument. The gourds are specially cultivated to obtain the desired shape.
Measurements:
Ipus are measured by the Diameter of the largest part of the Gourd. Each Ipu will fit into a diameter size variant in the top left of its picture and the top right number can be used to indicate the unique gourd within that diameter family.
